A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
My favourite mountain. It's got everything you could be looking for. It's big, it's got steep but also has nice intermediate terrain. Nice bowls of various difficulty. Rarely ever wait in lines. Brand-new lifts give it an edge. Different mountain pods allow you to find your spot and adapt to weather conditions. It tends to be a cold mountain but the lodge on the mountain lets you warm up without having to go back down. The ride to the resort from Banff can be interesting when there is a snow storm.

Amazing place to ski. Have had a season pass multiple times. It’s an hour past Banff which is nice. Because it’s further than Sunshine Village it’s a little less busy. Lots of good vertical with diverse terrain. There’s a little something for everyone.

Short and simple, Lake Louise is one of my favourite hills. Don't think I've ever had a bad day there.

My sister and I had our long-awaited "international ski trip" at Banff last week (Banff had snow - the Alps did not). We started the trip at Lake Louise, as the map of the mountain was enticing and the word-of-mouth in town said, repeatedly it was the best mountain by far. But a great day of skiing contains much more than just a great ski mountain, and in this regard, Lake Louise was a dismal failure. The facilities at the base of the mountain were deplorable: the locker room was tiny. TWO 2-person benches in total - so nowhere to sit while putting on your boots. The lodge is poorly laid out, with bad signage, and finding your way around is impossible. And there's nobody to direct or help you - it's a huge amount of guessing as to where to go, which is pretty awful when you don't even know where to put your skis as you're trying to find a place to remove your street shoes and put on your ski boots.
The food selections and quality was horrible - worst hamburger I've had in decades (which included a long wait, it was completely burned to a char, full of some awful sauce - it didn't cover even 1/3 of the bun; the poutine was bland, unseasoned canned sauce with some cheese curds tossed in - dumped on top of cold fries. This I waited almost 20 minutes for (and tromped through 3 different rooms to get to, and back to my table). And to get this overpriced garbage I had to stand in line for 20 minutes. Crowded beyond belief (I cannot imagine what a nightmare this would be on a weekend - this was on a fairly quiet mid-march Tuesday). Noisy. Nasty. Piped in hip/hop and rap, played at high volume.
The whole lunch experience reminded me of skiing at Afton Alps in Minnesota when I was in high school in the 1970s: (28 chair lifts, 200 vertical feet!). Afton Alps had legendary weekend crowds with outrageous lift lines and a dining experience that made a high school cafeteria look civilized. The lodge experience at Lake Louise was highly reminiscent of that long-ago model (one I thought was extinct, but sadly, lives on here).
After a fairly nice day of skiing (amazing scenery), it was time to go back to Banff on the shuttle buses. No organization at all: no signs saying "Line for Banff starts here" - or what time the buses were to arrive or any effort at all to organize the mess. Of course, there were no benches to ease the long (ONE HOUR) wait. It was a giant, mad cluster when the buses arrived. And never once was there an employee for Lake Louise or the bus company to organize, help and add some civility to the madness.
This place needs new owners - or new management - or both. I haven't been on the receiving end of such a degrading and repugnant guest experience in 50 years. And it's such a crime, because the mountain itself is incredible. But without a little decorum - and consideration given for the REST of the experience, it's an utter fail.

Excellent day on the mountain yesterday. Cold temps kept people away and clear skies made for total mountain skiing.

Got hurt getting on the Partridge chair lift after attendant mishandled the lift and swung the chair into my legs. Never happened before in over 30 years of skiing. Poor training and leadership, terrible attitude of employees, coupled with ancient equipment.

Skied Lake Louise Jan 27-28, 2020. This was my first time visiting with a group of friends. The place does not disappoint. We had bluebird skies for the morning on the first day, and the views are incredible. The next day it snowed all day and powder was everywhere. I really enjoyed the tree runs and the bowls. This place has something for everyone. If you want groomers, there is great variety on the front side. If you are looking for bowls and wide open spaces, you can find that on the back side. If you want some challenging double blacks, you can find that too. I enjoyed some of the tree runs and untouched powdery snow. Rock Garden was one of the runs that really lived up to its name. It's basically a 4' catwalk that leads to a slope full of boulders. One of those runs that you and your buddies laugh about for the rest of the trip. Had a great time a Lake Louise! Definitely will look to come back! I would rank this experience up there with the time I went to Jackson and had 18" of powder. Ski Lake Louise...you will not be disappointed.

Lake Louise still appears to be taking a snow measurement and then doubling it. Dragging my base even near the summits so be aware the 152 cm is rare right now. Great hill that still needs some more snow if you are a tree boarder.
