My son and I just went up for the day and experienced beautiful fresh air and well run lifts! The passes are RFID so all you have to do is step onto the platform and the arm lifts to let you enter. The people are very helpful for getting your bikes on and off the lift.
We were blessed to have a little rain while we were there! Took some video of our event, will be posting on YouTube! Mommabird Arizona
It was well worth the cost and the drive ..will definitely be going again!

I've skied sunrise a few times and have had a very consistent experience at this resort. I will start with the Pros, Overall the snow was fantastic quality with very few issues other than sometimes getting icy towards the bases. The crowding can be problem on sunrise peak, but if you move over to the other 2 peaks, crowds disperse fast. The staff is overall friendly and relaxed . Now the con, The biggest takeaway is the very inconsistent grooming, most runs can take weeks to get groomed. Lots of blues get big moguls or sometimes are straight powder a week after the storm. Even when trails are groomed, they usually only run the cat once over leaving 2/3 of the run still ungroomed. Other than grooming the lifts are slow but not bad enough to warrant new lifts, however I do notice they often have chairs closed off or entire lifts closed due to "Being broken beyond repair" which makes one question how well they take care of their equipment. To sum it up, I love the feel of this resort but the technical side seems to lack.

I have been going to Sunrise for 40 years. I still love this mountain with a passion because when the snow is good its just simply awesome. Better than some expensive Colorado resorts I have been too. I'm a little torn about whether they should update and develop this resort further. On the one hand, the tickets are still relatively inexpensive and the lines and crowds are not bad. I think most people go to Flag and that is fine with me. On the other hand, the lodging is crumbling and the food is simply awful. The lift broke down last time I was there and people were stuck for a couple hours. Sometimes the bathrooms are closed for repair at the top and the lifts are haven't been updated on most of the mountain since I started going 40 years ago. The Apaches are very friendly and I like that they own and run the mountain instead of some conglomerate that only cares about profits. This mountain could be a lot more, but at the end of the day its really about the skiing and its usually pretty amazing.

We have gone skiing at Sun Rise for 31 years and love the mountain. The staff morale has improved 100% the last couple of years and are now very friendly and accommodating. The facilities are very old and need to either be remolded or torn down. The parking lot is very DANGEROUS with ice and many holes and hasn’t been graded in years (?). It’s a wonder that with all of the falls in the Parking lot that there aren’t daily broken bones. Like I said we love skiing at Sunrise and this could easily become a first class ski resort but the management needs to make changes for that to occur. I hope that they do make changes.

Nice place to ski for beginner and intermediate level skiers. Nice staff but slow ticket line. Lifts could be updated.

This year, no info. about anything only old pictures. No good !
Also why you do not use new machines to make snow !? Only bunny hill!?
We have tickets and we want skiing and we are not kids !
Great little resort with many runs. So much potential but the owners just don't seem to care. Hard for management to do what they want if the owners don't care. Lifts are falling apart. Lifts still on map that aren't actually there. Lodges on mountain are falling apart. Grew up skiing this place but having a hard time keeping interested based on the owners letting it crumble. So much potential. No lodging at the ski area.

My husband and I enjoyed our first ever ski lesson with Gearhardt who was excellent. We both learned so much. Great skiing for families. The children and parents were having a great time.

We have skied Sunrise for 2 years. We ski mid week. We have never waited in a lift line. We bought seasons passes this year. Last year we bought day passes. They are very reasonably priced. I had season passes in Montana and Oregon at much higher prices. The day passes at other ski resort are over $100 a day. We have seen improvements this year and last. There have been many upgrades the ski shop has doubled in size, lodges, restaurants and ski school areas have had upgrades. There are more upgrades to come. The new snow cats are awesome. Ride in comfort to the top of Cyclone. Staff is friendly and helpful. Ski patrol is very visible. There is plenty of parking. We stay in our RV at their RV park. It has electrical. We have also stayed at the hotel they have been updating the rooms. Skiing mid weeks is like having your own ski resort.

It's an ok ski area, good for beginners and intermediates. Passing through from Taos, it didn't even compare. This place obviously needs better management and upkeep from outside sources since present Native way is not working well.
