Beautiful location. Good bar for apres. Solid restaurants in town with good vibes. Good value overall. When conditions demand, Fernie needs more resources allocated to getting runs open. When closed for avalanche danger, it is understood. But areas well below avalanche danger remained closed during our visit. Some long, slow fixed grip lifts get tiresome. Could use a couple more short, quick lifts for better laps. All in all, a skiers' mountain. No flash. And for the most part, that's good.
Gorgeous vistas. Outstanding bowls (when open) for expert and advanced skiers.
Lack of grooming after rain and warm weather. What was groomed wasn't groomed well. Low budget feel.

Used to have a seasons pass to fernie for three years and ski 35 times a year at fernie. Very rare to have a good day here as they always have the whole mountain closed due to “avalanches” which is valid however they allow pro skiers into closed terrain to post videos on social media so they can brag about how good the conditions are on their Instagram page. There are no warmup shacks on the mountain so on cold days you get less runs. The staff are constantly rude especially at customer service, had a seasons pass and got a discount if my friends were coming skiing and they always tried to not give the discount. The staff are entitled locals who think the mountain belongs to them. Chairlifts have broken down many times while I was skiing there, leaving half your day wasted being stuck for an hour or so no refund or discount. They do not groom any of their blue or green runs and let them get to the point of massive icy moguls which makes it hard to ski for beginners. When they do rarely groom they create ruts down all the runs which makes conditions even worse. They do not cut the alders down any of gladed runs leaving few routes down. The hill food is extremely over priced and terrible (like all ski resorts to be fair). A lot of the good jumps and drops and features are closed. Everything (particularly the lift tickets) are over priced for such an outdated rundown ski resort, and they do not spend the money on upgrading or grooming the mountain. Sad to see the decline of such a well located ski resort.
Sometimes they have good snow but always icy and they do not know how to groom a run
People are very rude. Especially to Albertans -they do not maintain their terrain and bushes overgrow many of the runs -extremely expensive -if the snow is good everything will be closed as the ski patrol and influencers lap good terrain

we used to come here 20 years ago with our kids because it was the closest resort for us to travel to....it was great .we could park our rv at the bottom of the slope and ski to it slowly rcr started raising prices and becoming more and more unaccommodating...we stopped going and started checking out different resorts. after comig back in 2022 we were not surprised rates were way up but dissappointed that for that price they had not upgraded a single thing in fact many buildings and services were in disrepair. we had little snow on our trip and the 2 novice skiers were often scared on blue runs that they have easily done on other resorts which left them only skiing the bottom 1/4 of the mountain....i am a advanced skier and snowboarder and have done all the runs at fernie but seeing it with different eyes this time the blues here should mostly be labeled blacks and there are so many stupid uphill transitions and runouts that destroy the legs and ruin the experience of a great upper run. there has to be ways to fix these...it was -20 c on our trip and this is the first resort that we have been to that seems to want you to freeze to death after you leave the base lodge as there is no upper mountain escape from the ellements. if you enter the lost boys cafe 9upper mountain restraunt) you have to wait to be seated and thus buy something..will not be returning to fernie till news of major renovation.theres just too many great resorts getting it right....fernie is not one of them...adapt or die!
close to get to/lots of terrain/nice large town in fernie with all ammenities
blue runs are not blues, they are blacks and not well labelled so poor beginners get caught where they dont want to be/they havent spent any money on upgrades here in 20 years (run down,dated)/nowhere to warm up mid or upper mountain/lack of shops at base

Great snow great conditions. Also great to see loads of kids learning to ski with ski school. Friendly and fun atmosphere. Lots to do in town that is 5min away from base. Parking shuttles and downtown shuttles make everything really. Great for larger groups too as you can rent great places like the Timbers. Something for everyone at Fernie.

I’ve been skiing at Fernie for 4 years. I absolutely love it here! The environment is great and the workers are all very nice and fun. Doesn’t have as many expert runs as beginner or intermediate but the Powder skiing is amazing!
Great Powder Skiing, good weather, family friendly, great staff
Slow lifts, small lodges (can become very crowded especially on weekends)

I’ve been coming to fernie for years and for the most part I like it, but the lift prices are bordering on outrageous. Just because whistler is $200 a day doesn’t mean this place needs to go in a similar direction. It rains often here, it’s windy and they often close many of the lifts due to avalanche risk. If you guys are gonna charge so much then maybe you need to take out that t bar at the bottom of boomerang and replace it with a real lift. While you’re at it, the bear chair is garbage too. On a nice day tho, the mountain is so beautiful and the powder is heaven. Just wish Canada could have apres like they do in the alps. It’s depressing that there are so few options after a nice day of runs.
Fun when there’s powder and ALL lifts are open
Expensive, terrible apres, outdated lifts, tends to get icy

Fernie is a great family mountains and the town is lovely and friendly. You can blast blues all day and the beginners in your group will have plenty of runs on which to learn. If you want variety, it's an easy drive to Castle and Red Mountain. So, you can easily enjoy a full week of skiing with plenty of variety
Fun, easy skiing
not a lot of challenging areas

Best mountain anywhere near Calgary. Much better value and better snow than Louise or sunshine.
Amazing snow - awesome town, great food in town
Could use faster lifts
