A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Family friendly, quiet neighborhood and uncrowded compared to north hemisphere snowplaces. Totally worth it!

We stayed at hotel Nevados de Chillan. It was nice, food is good, bar and at food is good. Our rooms were not ready on our first night. We had paid and reswrved superior rooms but they gave us standard rooms and tried pass them off S superior. After I made a stink they moved us. The second day here, 100 middle schoolers showed up for the week from a Santiago private school. Pretty much little hellions! Very litttle adult supervision. Totally took away from a nice quiet experiemce

It had the longest ski tracks full of nature and between the forest, nice place to ski, good infrastructure to lodge but no the best infrastructure to go up to the montain, could be improved just adding more.

Come and ski Nevados de Chillán, if you are in Chile you can´t miss this place!
Avoid July as it´s too busy with locals. Best times to visit are in August and September.
There is plenty of backcountry skiing to be had, and skinning up the volcano is a 3/4 hour skin. If you look me up, i´ll show you the way to the thermal hot springs on the other side of the moutain which has to be done!
See ya in Chile!
We rode Nevados de Chillan the first week of August. It was dumping the day we arrived and through the night so we had 2 great powder days. Even the groomers were soft and fluffy, but if you're willing to step off and hike for 20 minutes in any direction this is where Chillan shines. Deep, powdery bowls, cornices and wind lips and untracked pow everywhere.
A few locals took me for a back country tour and it was as beautiful and challenging as anything I've ever seen. I highly recommend this place for your off piste delight.
On the other hand, we did get stuck on a lift that malfunctioned for 15 or so freezing minutes and the Don Otto is long and slow.
Still, I cannot help but sing the praises of this place. We may just have been lucky as I hear there hasn't been much snow this year, but on a powder day its world class.
This was my 4th trip to Chillan and although it has the best and most exhilarating runs, we are considering swearing it off for good because of the painfully slow and clunky lifts, that usually malfunction and really keep you the whole day freezing while ascending at turtle-pace.
Also, weather is usually stormy and windy, which may lead to an epic powder day, but if you are not here long enough you may not hit that day and walk away very frustrated (2 of my 4 trips have been like this).
On its favor, awesome runs and backcountry, hot springs, casino, and cheap lodging 10 miles away in Valle Las Trancas, beatiful powdery and dry snow.
CASATOURS
Nevados de Chillan holds a special place in the heart of CASA Tours owners, guides, and guests. This mountain is responsible for more epic powder days, adrenaline-inducing lines, and “Best run ever!” exclamations than any other resort in South America. Chillan’s lunaresque terrain, wide-open backcountry, un-crowded slopes, laid back mountain scene, and consistent snow conditions make it one of the best big-mountain ski & snowboard destinations in the world. It is so good that we made it the backbone of most of our Chilean tours.
On the 3,122 meter (10,243 ft) southern slope of Volcan Chillan are nine lifts that offer the longest rides in South America and vertical descents up to 1,800 meters (5,900 feet). Pirigallo, a steep bowl on the eastern side of the mountain, is a paradise for skilled riders. Our CASA guides frequently provide opportunities to tour into the wide open Tres Marias, Valle Hermoso and Shangri-La valleys, or ascend one of the three volcanic peaks that rise above the lift-serviced resort. Las Trancas, a sleepy alpine town located only 7km from the resort, offers comfortable accommodation as well as a variety of restaurants and bars. We consider Chillan to be the crown jewel of the Andes.
Have ridden most of the resorts in Chile & Argentina and Termas de Chillan is one of the best. Varied terrain set on the side of the old and new volcanoes. Longest run in South America, hot springs and spas, great main hotel, the Gran Hotel.
Great off-piste areas and freeriding options many of which are accessed from the lifts.
