Mt. Crescent Ski Resort in Honey Creek has a vertical drop of 300 feet, 2 lifts and 10 trails. The longest 2,400 feet in length, and there are 50 acres at the resort. The resort supports its natural snow with 100% snowmaking, and it offers night skiing, snowshoeing and snow tubing.
Seven Oaks in Boone has a vertical of 275 feet, 11 runs and a snow tubing park. The entire recreation area is 160 acres and is designed for year-round fun. It has full snowmaking coverage and is served by four lifts. There are lodging packages available from several properties in Boone and Ames.
Sundown Mountain in Dubuque, carved out of a beautiful century-old cedar forest reminiscent of Colorado, was founded in 1973. The area has 21 trails heavily weighted toward intermediate ability, 2 terrain parks and 6 lifts, including 2 conveyor carpets. It is groomed daily, and the mountain is fully lit for night skiing. It also has 150 snowguns and sticks. The total vertical drop is 475 feet.
