A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
The resort has undergone many renovations over the last year+ of new ownership. My family has had season passes for a few years, and all of my kids have learned to ski at Wild. Great experience for beginners and intermediate skiers. The Black diamond runs would be considered intermediate almost anywhere else and I feel are based completely on the slope, and not the actual difficulty of the runs. Backstage/Mainstage are great terrain park runs that a casual visitor could easily miss.

I am a ski instructor and I wanted to get out early this year. I made the decision to drive an hour and a half even though I knew there was only one chair in operation. I did one run and the chair malfunctioned, leaving only two tow ropes available. I didn’t want to use the ropes because I had nice gloves that would’ve been wrecked. I went to the chalet to talk to them about the situation to see if they could do anything about it. Upon entering, they were very rude and did not want to work anything out with me. I am very disappointed by the staff. Not professional at all! Take your business to another hill!

I skied here growing up for 10+ years and loved it! I was so excited to bring my own kid here to learn to ski. I signed him up for a one hour lesson so I could go ski some black diamonds without him. Well despite doing my best to communicate again and again with their ski school department it was just a horrible experience. I was told the instructor would be out on the hill soon. After 10 minutes I went back in to check and they said oh they are running late. Ok fine whatever. Lesson finally started 25 minutes late. My son has skied before so I wanted them to get up on the chairlift and do a longer run. I also asked about pickup time and said “so the lesson is an hour right?” The instructor was like well no because I have another class at the top of the hour. Whatever I’ve already wasted too much time so I went and skied three hills and came back and got him. No one was at the ski school desk and the other employees couldn’t help me onsite. I wanted a refund or another lesson at least. So I emailed when I got home and they never responded. They just clearly don’t care.

Their chalet is cramped and it's in very poor condition. They need to rebuild that chalet soon, and the chairlifts here are noticeably slower than the lifts at other resorts.
However, with that being said, I like coming here for a few reasons. This resort has two runs that are significantly steeper than any other resort in the metro (except for Welch).
I also like how, when compared to Afton Alps, this resort doesn't get too terribly busy on the weekends. At Afton, it's almost unbearable on the weekends because all of their runs become very crowded and the lines for the chairlifts can be extreme. At Wild, the black diamonds are almost never crowded, and the chairlift lines aren't too bad. Though, the easier runs here can get very crowded at times, especially Sunshine.
Lastly, the prices here are noticeably cheaper than at Afton Alps, and that's another big reason why I continue to come here.

I live about 10 minutes from Wild Mountain, and I've been skiing there for about 13 years. I haven't had a bad time there yet. They have great food! There is great terrain variety at Wild Mtn too. A little something for everyone!
