Big Sky Trail Map
Big Sky’s terrain spans 5,850 acres and 84.5 miles of pistes across four interconnected zones: Mountain Village, Moonlight Basin, Spanish Peaks, and the Lone Peak summit. With 317 trails and a vertical drop of 4,350 ft, the resort offers unmatched diversity for skiers and riders of all levels. The longest run, Liberty Bowl, stretches 6 miles from summit to base, delivering panoramic views and sustained carving.
Beginners will find gentle terrain near Explorer and the new mid-station learning center, which includes enclosed magic carpets and progressive slopes. These areas are ideal for families and first-timers, with easy access to rental shops and ski school facilities. The terrain is wide, well-groomed, and clearly marked for safe navigation.
Intermediate skiers can explore Andesite Mountain and the Spanish Peaks zone, where blue runs like Mr. K and Calamity Jane offer rolling terrain and scenic descents. These areas are served by high-speed lifts and include on-mountain dining options for convenient breaks.
Advanced skiers will enjoy the steeper pitches off Challenger and Shedhorn lifts, including runs like Dictator Chutes and Rockville Bowl. These zones feature natural moguls, tree-lined descents, and variable snow conditions that reward technical skill and confident turns.
Expert terrain is concentrated around Lone Peak, accessible via the new tram. The Big Couloir, Gullies, and North Summit Snowfields offer steep chutes, exposed ridgelines, and deep powder on storm days. Avalanche gear is required for some zones, and patrol monitors access for safety.
Freestyle riders can explore five terrain parks across the resort, including Swifty Park and the new Moonlight Basin setup. Features include 80 rails, jump lines, and a halfpipe. Parks are groomed daily and cater to all skill levels, with dedicated lifts and viewing areas for spectators.
