I love this resort. Been getting season passes for 3 years and counting. The expert terrain is super good and steep. The staff are all very friendly too.
The snow is great
Back bar closes at 4pm

I wish everything was open longer, summit bar and bathrooms.
Chutes, wild card, slide side tree runs
Closes too early, only does lakeview bar on Fridays for a couple months.

Great place to learn while still offering challenging terrain for experts. Great casual vibe...without the crowds. Attentive lift operators and very helpful staff. Highly recommended.
Great snow and convenient to Reno
Amenities very basic

My very first time skiing was at Mt. Rose. Overall the place was decently nice, but with that being said, it's not Aspen or Vail-nice, so don't expect anything of those sorts. If this is your first time skiing, be prepared to wait in a long line to get checked in, rent the boots, rent the skis, and drop your stuff off. I would recommend getting there at least an hour before your time slot starts. The ski instructors were a little condescending, one of them started taunting a girl because she accidentally put her skis on for the first station. Another one kept acting as if we were supposed to fully understand every word of what he was saying even though this was our very first time experiencing anything skiing-related. This place is also very Caucasian; one instructor mixed up me and my other Indian friend (we look nothing alike) then proceeded to assume that the only other Indian male in our group was our father. The one instructor who actually took the time to explain everything to us was a nice young female named Sarah from New Jersey. She was honestly the only good instructor there. Additionally, there was no communicating between the instructors at all of the different stations. I was told I was good enough to proceed to station 4; once I got up there, there was no instructor to greet us, so a friend and I assumed that we were supposed to go ahead and ski down. This resulted in me falling head first and injuring myself. Apparently, there was supposed to have been an instructor at station 4, but no one bothered to tell us this. I turned in my skis after I'd fallen because I'd hurt myself pretty badly. Overall this place is good if you're balling on a budget, but if you're new to skiing, I'd recommend investing in something a little nicer. Trust me, paying more will be so worth it because you will more than likely walk out injury-free unlike yours truly.
One great instructor
Many bad male instructors

Great snow when most of Tahoe is getting slush/rain due to higher elevation. Mt. Rose Hwy periodically closes.
Longer runs, especially for intermediate and beginners. Old school type feel (in a good way), wide open with very short lift lines. New Lakeview express lift makes it easy to get in a lot more runs.
Wish they had toilets up on mid-mountain or a place to grab a hot drink on upper part of mountain.

Great ski area. Big mountain skiing with close parking, fast lifts and fun staff

If you are good at skiing, the chutes are sick. If not, there’s something for you. Could be more bars but it’s not a big resort so whatever. Not very much to say about the park. Staff are friendly and food is good.

Mt rose is my favorite mountain in the Tahoe region. all of the employees work well to assist myself as an adaptive rider with smiles on their faces. its has a 6 seat high speed lift going to the top on both sides of the mountain. So it makes for a fantastic resort to burn out laps on. its a little lacking on the terrain park side but makes up for it with amazing natural features. its got a massive snow cat track running the border of the resort thats perfect for warming up for the day and shaking out the cobwebs. The powder days are some of the best in Tahoe, and there are great pockets hidden all over the mountain for weeks after a good storm. The lodge could use some BIG changes to be more wheelchair accessible, but i guess i have to deal with it until the resort updates itself to modern ADA requirements. Even with stated accessibility issues I will always get a season pass for here as long as they sell them.
high speed lifts on both sides to the top
needs more wheelchair accessibility

I’ve been going to Mt Rose since 1966. I was stationed in Sacramento and loved to ski. First tried Squaw and then the other areas closer to Sacramento but the snow was always heavy and annoying. Then we found Rose and what a difference. We loved it. Now I’m in my late 70s and stick to groomers mostly and I have no reason to go anywhere else. We ski midweek and ski half a day. The parking is easy, the price is great and the beer is good. What else is there

My family has been going to Mt Rose for a while now and we love it for it’s awesome runs and reasonable prices.
Beginner runs and black diamonds are perfect for everyone.
Because of the high base elevation sometimes it’s too windy and cold.
