For those arriving by road, NM-150 offers direct access from the town of Taos, passing through Arroyo Seco. Start your day early&mdash;especially after a storm. Taos gets tracked out quickly, and first chair on Lift 1 can mean untouched powder on Al&rsquo;s Run before the moguls form. If you&rsquo;re chasing fresh snow, head straight to Kachina Peak. The lift whisks you to 12,481 ft in minutes, and the descent offers some of the most exhilarating lines in the Southwest.
For a quieter experience, ski Honeysuckle mid-morning. It&rsquo;s a long, flowing blue run with fewer skiers and excellent grooming. The views from the upper section are stunning, and it connects easily to Upper Totemoff for a relaxed loop. Stop at the mid-mountain restaurant for a warm drink and a breather.

Apr&egrave;s-ski at The Bavarian is a must. Located near the base of Kachina Peak, it serves hearty fare and German beer in a cosy alpine setting. Weekends feature live music, and the outdoor patio is perfect for sunset views with a warm drink in hand.
If you&rsquo;re staying in the village, take the Gondolita from Firehouse Road to the base. It&rsquo;s a short ride but saves energy in ski boots and gets you to the lifts faster. It&rsquo;s also a scenic way to start your day, especially when the valley is dusted in fresh snow.
For scenic skiing, try North American late in the day. The light hits the ridgeline beautifully, and the run offers a mix of technical turns and wide-open sections. It&rsquo;s a great way to wind down before heading to dinner.
Don&rsquo;t miss Maxie&rsquo;s Terrain Park if you&rsquo;re into freestyle. The skier&rsquo;s left side features big airs and a new manual pad, while skier&rsquo;s right has smaller features for progression. It&rsquo;s open from 10:00 to 15:00 and is groomed daily for optimal flow.
Finally, if you&rsquo;re driving in from Santa Fe, take the High Road. It&rsquo;s longer but winds through historic villages, art galleries, and dramatic landscapes. Stop in Chimayo or Truchas for a bite or a photo&mdash;it's a memorable way to begin your Taos adventure.

Santa Fe Regional Airport (SAF) is a closer airport option for travelers heading to Taos Ski Valley, located roughly a 2-hour drive away. Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) is another alternative, approximately a 2.5-hour drive from the resort. Choosing SAF may offer a more direct route to Taos Ski Valley compared to ABQ, depending on flight availability and preferences.
