A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
We always have a great time at this resort. Very family friendly. Slopes are well maintained. Ski school for younger ones is great! Pro tip, either pickup your ski rental equipment the night before from the Resort or pickup from somewhere else ahead of time. Line for same day pickup of ski rental equipment can take a while.

The customer service and management has gone done the drain at Beech Mountain. My last experience on Jan 15th, 2024 was the worse one of my entire life skiing. The main lift #5 to the top was down for over an hour. After standing in line, I decided to come back the next day and save my 4 hr flex pass (recommended by other staff). Upon returning the next day on Jan 15th, I was told my pass never reloaded from pervious day. They sent me to the administrative office to clear up and reload upon producing a valid receipt. The lady Lesley, was extremely unfriendly and accused me immediately of making up several stories. She was very arrogant and threatened to call security (on a military veteran, just trying to enjoy his time off). So I gave up and proceeded to go recover my skis left by the lift area. I made a bathroom stop and slipped and feel outside the bathrooms (main lodge). Things just proceeded to dwindle with resort management from there.
I was seen by ski patrol after multiple people recommended I go see them and get checked out. The medical provider, Tom, he did an amazing job. This did end up being another hour delay of questions and tablet documentation. On my way there, one staff member told another older lady that my fall was intention (outside Administration and Beech Mountain staff member). This could have not been father from the truth. Yet again, two days in a row I tried skiing and was only able to make one run.
I was ready to leave and head back to Columbia, SC. Feeling frustrated with my ski trip and lack of customer service. Upon getting to the parking lot, it turned into mass chaos of people trying to leave, just to end up blocked into parking lots. The road conditions deteriorated rapidly and way too many vehicles without 4x4 or winter capabilities. Needless to say, it turned into over a 6 hr ordeal of vehicles being pushed, towed, locals plowing public roads and etc. Many vehicles had to be abandoned and were slid over to the roadway edge, this making a one lane plow path. Beech Mountain really let me down and allowed the roads to deteriorate completely. They ended up being able to plow and salt one lane, roadway was transverse able by midnight. So, Ski Beech and the Town of Beech mountain owe all the skier and locals a big apology for their lack of management. I still want me ski trip! Arriving back home to Columbia SC at 4:30 am, due to no lodging was unacceptable and extremely dangerous.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had. No rentals, no parking, crowded. Waste of time and will never go back. Stay away and spend your money elsewhere!

Went to beech for my third time this past weekend and it was CROWDED. The lines for the lifts were extremely long and some people would just ski to the front and cut in line to the complaints of everyone in line in front of staff and they just stood there. Once I finally got on a lift the exits were poorly maintained. Steep slope off the lift with a very short turn radius. As in the lift pushed me into my fellow riders as we got off causing people to fall almost every time they got off. Even if there was a normal slope and the lift wasn't pushing you into people the slope itslef would be so worn in the middle that the people on the sides would slide into the middle again cause people to fall. I spent about 30 mins watching the 3 lifts at the top and about 85% of people fell.
This has been an issue each time I have visited Beech over the past year so its not a one time event I could forgive.
Never once saw ski patrol on the mountain either.
All slopes converge into the green slopes at the bottom meaning theres no safe space for beginners to learn. They have a trail called the carolina caribean but i havent seen it open so all the blue and black diamond skiers merge with the beginers halfway up the mountain and it just makes things unsafe. 5 trails converge inot 2 wide trails.
We were so impressed how everyone made sure my granddaughter, DIL and myself had a great day skiing.. The improvements that were made such as lift and conveyor and each person working the lifts were so helpful and making sure my granddaughter had the time of her life. Truly love Beech Mtn the snow was good for late March and not a better view anywhere from the top of the Mountain. A great for a family to ski together

My experience was so disappointing due to the fact that trails were unsafe, unmarked and there was no ski patrol to be found anywhere. I was there today, Jan 1st and there was more mud than snow. I can’t believe that they were open. They’re managemant must only care about money and not the safety of their customers. I will never visit this resort again and will not recommend it.
My Daughter-in-law and myself took our 5 year old skiing for the second time and we were so impressed with how all the lift operators made sure her ride up mountain would be memorable for a life time. The addition of the new lift, lockers and the friendliness of Beech Mtn. Made this trip special. It was the Friday, next to the last day of the season and the snow was good and our 5 year old has grown to love Beech Mountain Ski Resort. Again the lift operators in the past we have all had concerns at time but these women and men made all of us want to continue skiing Beech Mountain. By far the best ski resort in the region

8 members of my family went tubing. There is a 20 ft hill at the bottom meant to stop the tubes with a steep cliff and trees over the hill. They have a couple of staff standing on the ledge of the hill that batt people down if possible which is 1) not safe for staff and 2) very poor methodology. Why there is not a net is beyond me. 4 members of my family jumped the hill and FELL DOWN THE CLIFF. 2 sustained head injuries and 1 was knocked unconscious. 1 broke their arm and sustained full body scratches and bruises. My 6 year old niece thankfully got the least injured but still had a bruised back, bottom and legs. The staff did not come to help, instead they laughed. I had to figure out where my family was myself as to me they had disappeared by the time I got to the bottom of the tubing hill. I myself had to ask for medical assistance. The first aid staff treated us very very poorly. When I asked what the procedure was this was the reply I got which was preceded by more laughter “What do you think, I got a doctorate or an X-ray machine in the back? If you need assistance you might wanna go to the hospital. They look fine, they can walk.” REALLY??!? My family is Venezuelan but speak perfect English. Perhaps this was discrimination as I would hope not all guests get this type of treatment. After, they made them get back conveyor belt to go back up which is ridiculous. When we got up we went to try and talk to someone else inside the ticketing window. They would not give us a refund and blamed changing weather conditions. PS, the weather had not changed. And if it did and was then dangerous, why not shut down at least that lane? They would not give us any information, would not let us talk to someone in charge (of course more laughter) and ultimately, ended up shutting the window on me after I said “if this was your family, you wouldn’t be acting this way.” I have never encountered such a rude staff especially with a guest who was just knocked unconscious and bleeding out the head is standing there with his 2 young children balling their eyes out. What’s more is that they did not close that tubing lane after this incident. This happened on February 21, 2021 at approximately 6:20 pm. I would really like to know if anyone had an incident afterwards, I’d be willing to bet on it as it was the most disorganized, dangerous resort I’ve been to. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE SAFETY!!! I could keep going on all the crazy things I saw in my short 30 minutes on that tubing hill. I really hope they get more organized, implement better safety standards, and def get a better non-racist staff!

I have not been around so many people since Covid hit and I have been to Dollywood and splash country. They were sold out so I guessing 10,000 people. Waited 2 hours for pre purchased lift tickets and rentals. Was in the rental room with 100 people masked and unmasked for at least an hour to get rentals. The mountain felt very unsafe to many people and half that were just beginners. I didn’t see Any water filling stations or hand sanitizer...completely low on staff. Waited 40 mins to get food in a room with around 75 people. Got there at 8:45 left at 5:00 and got in 6 runs on the high speed quad because of HUGE lines. This was a Saturday and I would not recommend a weekend day. They should lower the number of people allowed on the mountain and they have no systems in place to handle this many people even without COVID. I love Beech Mountain but was very disappointed by our visit.

Ryan Costin supported one of his Ski Patrollers’ choice to cut my Season’s Pass from my neck over a misunderstanding (I unknowingly went down an unopened slope ONCE). This was my first time on any slope in 6 years, and my fifth time using my pass, with no prior warnings or anything, my first season’s pass to anywhere. The slope wasn’t netted, roped, or showed no clear and obvious signage, not ski patrol at bottom cutting passes. I was compliant and non-combatant, I didn’t curse or name-call.. and still.
Some appreciated guest I am… they practically stole $560 from my neck over a misunderstanding and no warning.. within arms’ reach during COVID not to mention.
Thanks Ryan Costin (GM) and Jim (ski patrol)!
