Total (3.4)
A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
It was a great experience. Even on a weekend the wait for the lifts were five minutes or less except for first thing in the morning. The terrain was great with plenty of groomed options for an intermediate skier like me. The facilities were excellent. The gondolas make a huge difference when the wind is blowing. My only complaint was the price, especially for the food.

What was once an absolute gem in Utah has been destroyed by the IKON pass and crowds that accompany it. What was once some of the best dining at any ski resort I have visited is now overpriced for sub-par food. What was once immaculate grooming across the entire mountain as soon as snow depths made it possible is now back-seated to I don't know what or why. This mountain has way too many dangerous choke points and overall narrow runs that cannot handle the capacity that the resort now allows and encourages. The bathrooms used to be cleaned several times per day. Since the new manager took over 4 years ago, they are often filthy. Garbage everywhere, toilets covered in excrement as recently as yesterday! This place went from quality to quantity in just the past 4 years, and it relies on its posh lodges to cover for the lack of true quality experience that anyone who has been skiing here for decades knows has diminished greatly. Increased uphill capacity by installing high-speed, high-capacity lifts gives the illusion of short-ish lift lines, but those shiny new lifts dump way too many people on the hill at one time, creating an unsafe and degraded experience. Powder days are now like a war zone with a feeding frenzy of people trying to find untracked powder. Throw in 60+ avalanche zones that need mitigation before a lot of the mountain can be safely opened, and the lines and powder frenzy on powder days can be anything but fun. Snowbasin has sold its soul to the almighty dollar and the IKON pass.

I love their skiing for all levels, and they are great about their lodging, but the lift lines can be long.

Learning to Ski or Board? Looking for a fun Powder Day? In Utah for a long weekend and want to take advantage of the Best Snow on Earth? Go somewhere else! This is not a Resort to visit if you want to learn or if you are looking to challenge yourself unless you are already comfortable skiing Blues and some Blacks at other Resorts. The terrain for beginners and lower intermediates is minimal, and usually crowded as a result. Most of the Mountain is crowded on weekends and Holidays. We met locals who live near Snowbasin but said they have made other Resorts their home hill in recent years because the crowds have become unbearable. Now that we’ve experienced it, I can see why.
There is plenty of parking, and the lodges are comfortable, clean, have delicious food, and immaculate bathrooms. Finding a place to sit, however, is another matter entirely. The Base area felt overwhelmingly crowded from the time we arrived until the time we left. It took 10 minutes to find a table where people were finishing lunch and another 10 before they actually finished and we were able to sit down. People were walking around looking for a place to sit every time we were in a lodge from first chair until last call.
Maybe next season I will try it out on a weekday, but frankly I enjoy cruising groomers and didn’t find too much to my liking even when I did manage to find a run that wasn’t packed with people. This resort was a letdown for me. I had heard lots of positives about the Mountain and Facilities, but apparently so has the rest of Utah, and when we visited, it felt like every rider and skier in the state must have been there with us.

Really good resort for powder and groomers. Tree skiing, open bowls, steeps, there’s just lots of good terrain.

I have skied the Basin since the 60's and now find it difficult to get to the resort due to all the traffic. This has been happening even on week days. I rarely ride the gondola with skiers that are local. The Icon pass has really screwed the locals over.

Repair has declined. Customer care seems ways below the care of profit. I will not support or spend any additional money at this place.

This Mountain is FUN, an all around bullseye to ski/ride. On top of that, it's as reasonably priced (tickets/food/merch, etc.) as the resort is all around posh, as the staff is friendly, accommodating and so personable. Everything checks out at this resort, and as fun as the Mountains are in the Cottonwood Canyons, with Snowbasin, you're not dealing w that potential insane traffic.

Nice mountain, great lifts and lodges. Don’t go on the weekends or holidays . Traffic situation totally unacceptable

I skied at Snowbasin 25 times in 2022. It became my new favorite mountain. The terrain is diverse, the snow is consistently soft, the groomed runs are well maintained, lifts are well laid out, the upper mountain has spectacular scenery, parking is easy, season passes are affordable, mountain is well managed, restaurants are clean, comfortable and inviting, and access from Ogden is only 20-30 minutes. The off piste and double black runs are incredible, try Lone Tree off Strawberry lift. For cruisers, enjoy 10 minute laps off Middle Bowl lift with six options. To simulate the 2002 Olympic downhill, jump on JP lift and head for Wildflower and Grizzly downhill. I love the local vibe. Families and friends sit at the base area enjoying small barbecues or do tailgate parties.
