Snow Reporter Comments: 2/22 6AM - Fresh snow and weekend stoke continues today across 670 acres here at Southern Vermont’s highest peak! Snow is back on the radar tonight and continuing into Monday, with forecasts looking promising for 5-8+ inches of accumulation possible. Don’t stop those snow dances just yet, snow keeps coming all week long so keep your eyes on the forecast! For your Sunday, make your way down 99 open trails plus endless trees with 74 trails getting fresh corduroy overnight. 25 trails were left all natural to hunt down pow stashes with plenty to go around! For your way up, 13 lifts are scheduled to spin at 8:30AM with no delays anticipated. Plus, early access is on for 7:45AM for First Tracks pass holders. It's shaping up to be yet another stellar day you won’t want to miss. The Ikon Stoke Event is back next weekend from Friday, February 27 through Sunday, March 1. There will be plenty of giveaways, music, après, and even early lift access for Ikon Pass holders. Plus, you can enter to win a 26/27 Ikon Pass to keep the stoke rolling into next season! See you there!Catch you on the slopes!Gondola Update:As we noted in yesterday's Mountain Report, our Lift Maintenance team discovered an issue during routine maintenance checks and made the decision to remedy it before running the lift. The part at issue is in the top terminal and key to allowing the cabins to circulate around the terminal and return to the line to go back downhill. If it were to fully fail, the cabins would not be able to cycle through the top and we would be required to perform a rope evacuation. While we keep many parts on hand for maintenance and wear and tear, there's no ski area that is able to keep all of the extra parts on hand for every lift part, for every scenario. That is not practical, and unfortunately, this is one of those parts. We have a very tenured team of experts who perform regular and preventative maintenance on all our lifts throughout the year including the winter. As with a lot of machinery, the indications of an issue present themselves when they present themselves and that's what happened this week after showing no indication all season long.We immediately began working with the manufacturer to procure the part and as of our latest conversations this morning we do not have an estimated arrival date. The good news is that the fix should only take a day once it arrives. We want to be transparent with everyone regarding the gondola operations beyond today as it's clear that the gondola will not operate this weekend and likely into early next week. We plan to have all of our other lifts running this weekend with 100% of our terrain open which helps spread everyone out throughout the mountain. We will update the timeline as soon as we have more information.Safety Tip: Skiing in the woods?
