Perisher Ski Resort is Australia&rsquo;s most popular ski area and the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. Located in the gorgeous Kosciuszko National Park, the resort spans seven peaks and is home to more than 1,245 skiable hectares. 
Perisher is a great mountain getaway with endless options for restaurants, accommodations and entertainment. Perisher has varied terrain suitable for any ability level. The resort is also a great destination for families providing ski school and childcare facilities.
Located in Australia's Snowy Mountains, the resort is comprised of four villages and their associated ski fields. Vail Resorts&nbsp;acquired Perisher in 2015, adding the mountain to its Epic Pass&nbsp;for the 2015/2016 ski season.

There are  a variety of on-snow properties in Perisher located for ski-in/ski-out access. Accommodation consists of private and commercial lodges, hotels and apartments.

Jindabyne is the closest town below the snow-line, and is a 30-40 minute drive from Perisher, or 15 minute Skitube (alpine railway) ride to Bullocks Flat. There is an extensive selection of properties that range from inns to holiday flats. Many have views of the lake and mountains. There are additional accommodation listings on the Kosciuszko Road and Alpine Way. 

Terrain is varied at Perisher and is suitable for all ability types. Beginners have dedicated learning areas off of the Village 8 Express lift, Pretty Valley Double Chair and the Pleasant Valley Quad Chair. Beginners should also check out Mt. Piper which is almost exclusively beginner runs and light intermediate runs.
Intermediate and advanced trails make up most of the runs at Perisher. The Mt. Perisher Double Chair is Australia&rsquo;s highest chairlift at 2034 meters. Head over to Shifty&rsquo;s Run and Wylie&rsquo;s Run for expansive long intermediate trails.
Perisher is also home to various terrain parks throughout the mountain. Night skiing is also available on specific nights.

Perisher is comprised of seven peaks: Mt. Perisher (2,054m), Mt. Back Perisher (2,014m), Mt. Piper (1,830m), Mt. Blue Cow (1,994m), Rocky Knob (1,900m), Guthega Peak (1,924m) and Mt. Blue Calf (1,905m).

Perisher is a six hour drive from Sydney or seven hour drive from Melbourne. Motorists are required to have chains if not in a four wheel drive vehicle. There is also an entry fee into the national park. 
Perisher is also served by a rack-rail train called Skitube. Skitube is Australia&rsquo;s longest tunnel at 6.3km long and 550m below the surface.
