Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort Overview

With the highest lift-served terrain in the state of California at 11,053 feet and more than 3,500 acres of skiable terrain, Mammoth Mountain lives up to its name.

Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort lies on the eastern edge of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. It’s 330 miles east of San Francisco and 310 miles north of Los Angeles, making for a five-to seven-hour drive.

Situated within hours of Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, and June Mountain, the resort provides a great starting point to explore the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Most visitors stay in the town of Mammoth Lakes, which offers up restaurants, bars and plenty to do for those seeking a nightlife scene.

Mammoth Mountain was founded in 1953 by Dave McCoy. It averages an impressive 400 inches of annual snowfall, allowing it to have one of the longest ski seasons in the country. In the winter of 2017, the resort was open from November to early August! The mountain is great for all levels, with options ranging from expansive bowls, tree skiing, wide groomers, steep chutes, halfpipes, and the world-class Unbound Terrain Parks.

Where to Stay

Full service hotels, convenient motels, luxury condominiums, chalets, cabins, and dormitory style lodging are all located in the town of Mammoth Lakes, only four miles from the ski area. The Village Lodging, Mammoth's newest property, features studio to three-bedroom condominiums, centrally-located in The Village. Shopping, dining, mountain access, golf and meeting facilities are nearby. The recently remodeled Mammoth Mountain Inn is located across the street from the Main Lodge and offers slopeside accommodations. Juniper Springs Resort, also slopeside, located at the base of Eagle Express, features studio, one and two-bedroom condominium units. Tamarack Lodge & Resort is located at Twin Lakes in the Mammoth Lakes Basin. Cabin and lodge facilities offer accommodation year round.

Most epic sauce mountian in california (I havent been to tahoe), very fun for the whole family, many squeals and delights will be had. You can eat it on their double blacks at the top, or be a voluntary bowling pin on their gentle green slopes (i may run you over if you are in my way). The overall mountain is great. If staying for more than 2 days go get some normal food at the vons, other food is much to exspensive. The staff is very friendly (sometimes a wee bit faded), but overall very awesome. Watch out for chill guys smoking weed under chair 5
