The resort has failed to invest in operations or basic maintenance for 22 years (since the current owner bought the resort). Lifts are frequently close or "on delay" for maintenance. A 6 inch snow fall results in the upper mountain not opening until after 11:30 - powder days become a joke. Food service on the mountain is, at best, a reminder of a 1970's era ski resort. Currently the resort is reporting over 100% of average snow pack but 1/3 of the trails remain closed. This is a magical place that has become less than a third tier resort

Lifts don’t run. Everyday brings a new delay or closure. 5 inches of fresh snow means the upper mountain won’t open until 11:30. 23 years of failing to invest in upkeep and maintenance coupled with trying to squeeze every nickel of profit is showing badly. Food options on the mountain are reminiscent of the 1970’s. Grooming is also reminiscent of the ‘70s. Every aspect of the resort has been degraded.

Here's a (partial) list of days during which lifts were closed due to mechanical problems: 12/24, 12/31, 1/6, 1/7, 1/12, 1/13,1/14, 1/15, 1/17, 1/18,1/19, 1/21, 1/23, 2/1, 2/3, 2/8, 2/13, 2/15, 2/18, 2/21, 3/3, 3/4, 3/5, 3/11, 3/12, and 3/19. These were not closed for a few minutes - they were all day closures due to mechanical failures. This is not even a 3rd tier resort any longer - it's a joke

My favorite place to ski, and I have skied a lot of places, even in Austria. Panoramic views dominate the area. Even flying into the tiny TEX airport gives you a sense of adventure to begin your vacation and ease of getting in and out is unparalleled by most.

Beautiful mountain and enjoyed the days that I skied there. No complaints from me. Never had to wait in line to get on the lifts.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to visit the first three of the resorts on this list just last year in 2023, Steamboat, Telluride, and Breckinridge. Although I’ve been to Breckinridge several times and have only been to Steamboat and Telluride once, I thInk that Telluride is the best Mountain and Ski Town I’ve ever visited thus far and I would love to visit it again and would recommend it to anyone who loves the winter outdoors and skiing.
