When in doubt, ski Nubs!
Snowmaking at nearly all ski areas seem to have marginal capabilities in comparison.
Great Food!

VERY DISAPPOINTED TO SKI ON UNGRROOMED HILLS THAT WERE COMPLETELY TORE UP. FOR BEGINER IT WILL SOUR YOU FROM SKIING EVER AGAIN

My take. You groom. Ski patrol falling. So frustrating. On to next. Out 138 times last year. So disappointing

I have skied Nubs with my family for 40 yrs. It keeps getting better. If you want high speed lifts you should look to Boyne Mt. and The Highlands, please do. The food was better with the sandwich bar, before covid. When the sun comes out it has to be like heaven.

I love nubs, they have the best snow I've skied in the midwest and some fun groomers. glades are also fun in good conditions and they even have one you have to hike into. but the best part in my opinion is that the hill never has crowds and isn't overrun by tourists like the Boyne resorts nearby are. even on Saturdays you'll maybe have a 1-2 minute wait on green chair and that's it. however the lifts are kinda slow for the size, especially orange. also when I was there they shut a bunch down for racing. during the day they had the rope tow run closed for training, which isn't a huge deal, but then at night they closed all of the front face blacks and a couple of the blues, and those are the best on the mountain. I get that they're doing races and stuff but they should leave some black diamond groomers open.

This place is for skiers! Will groom midday if needed, closes between day and night to regroom. Great variety of terrain on 3 peaks. No lift lines. Friendly and a great place for families.

Nubs has runs for everyone. Long flat groomers for beginners, lots of easy fun cruisers, some challenging frontside steeps, and seven(!) glade runs for the more adventurous. The terrain park regularly wins awards. Best in the midwest.

We go to Nub's from Chicago as our primer for the ski season every year before heading out West. You can almost guarantee great conditions and well groomed runs. 2 days to get your ski legs back with enough diversity on the hills to keep it interesting.
But, this is a skiers hill. The people at Nub's are skiers first, and snowboarders (As a note, not many snowboarders and the ones that do come are just as respectful as the skiers.).
The lodge is roomy enough, and most people don't even use lockers. Just find a corner and plant your bags there. You can unload your vehicle right at the lift, and if you're renting equipment, the rental shop is right there as well.
Good store, but the food isn't great. We usually pack lunches and snacks. But, again, if you're looking for an experience outside of skiing go across the street to Boyne (You can see Boyne from Nub's. They face each other.)
Plenty of very easy LONG runs for beginners. Trails are well marked. My kids learned at Nub's. Now they ski Utah.
Let me repeat again though. Amenities are not what this place is about. Drive up, drop your gear, park, snap in and slide over to the lift. That's the Nub's experience.

This is a great Northern Michigan ski resort. Trail conditions were prefect and the staff was very friendly. These were some of the best groomed trails I have skied on in Michigan and there were a lot of runs to ski at all skill levels. I would definitely return.

First time at Nubs Nob. Skied from Jan 2nd thru Saturday January 4th. All runs were opened despite warm weather the previous week. Conditions were good Thursday. Due to weather were icy Friday, but thanks to the grooming and some natural snowfall, were very good Saturday and excellent Saturday night.
Did laps on the green chair Saturday night and it might be the best skiing conditions I'll have all season, me being from Cincinnati.
Great experience overall. Great place to ski with kids. Mine being old enough to ski on their own. Staff very friendly.
