I'm 61 year old int/expert skier. I was there with my group of 6 and we had a nice time overall. However, things started out on a bad note when we were made to register, sign waivers and pick up our pre-paid lift tickets OUTSIDE!!!! It was -4 WC. Terrible customer service. Half of the lifts were closed so we had to ski the same 3-4 runs for two days. The lifts are almost as old as we are and very uncomfortable! They are hard to get on due to how narrow they are. We had to limit the # of runs on the 2nd day, since the area got so much snow and the powder was too deep for us. They didn't groom after receiving several inches. None of us are happy with the name changes. very confusing and hard to remember. We all miss the Indianhead and Blackjack names.
beautiful view, lots of snow
they make you check in, sign waiver outside!! (during -4 temps) The chairs are 50 years old and slow, and borderline dangerous to get on due to their narrowness. I have a bruise on my butt from hitting the armrests.

This is the closest ski resort to out west I’ve encountered. It’s got a little bit of everything from longer groomers to steep un groomed powder runs and tons of tree skiing. Even some very steep tight glades. If you don’t mind slower and more run down lifts this is definitely worth the money. I consider myself a pretty good skier and I had tons of fun.
Great Tree skiing, a few nice cliff drops and tons of powder even in early season conditions
Groomers were a little icy and there was a lot of rocks and stumps that weren’t completely covered lifts were slow and uncomfortable

I enjoy the fact that if you buy a lift ticket at indianhead, its also good for blackjack.

I was pretty excited to come to the U.P. and try this resort. However I was disappointed. I’m sure in the day this way a great resort and this area gets a lot of natural snow. However it doesn’t appear that this resort or many others in the area have updated. All the lifts and lodges seem to be the originals. It isn’t very crowded which is nice but they also don’t open all the runs if it isn’t busy. Indianhead is relatively flat which is good for beginners or family’s. However as I mentioned they really haven’t updated the resort which means slow 1 speed lifts. That combined with the long flat runs means your on the chairlift for a long time. A lift ride to the top is about 15minutes which is a long time for the 600ft vert. I was there from open to close and didn’t feel like I had gotten enough runs in. I also disliked that all the terrain is very similar. All the runs are on the same ridge and are similar grade in steepness so you feel like you are on the same run the entire day. The main advantage of this place is that there are other resorts around so If you are staying multiple days you can hit them all. It is also relatively inexpensive and the near by areas are also inexpensive.

This place has the best snow I have ever been on and has a great variety of slopes. It was perfect for a skier of my skill level (intermediate). The only downside is that the lifts are pretty slow and there isn't many of them. Also I didn't have time to explore their terrain park although I didn't see much of one.
Beutifull snow
slow chairlifts

Indianhead is where I learned to ski, and my family would do a trip there every year. It has lots of wide-open groomed runs. It has a lot of terrain for the beginner and intermediate skier, but a real lack of challenging runs for the advanced and expert skier.
Grooming and snowmaking
lack of any challenge

We brought our family to Indianhead for the first time in December 2015. We had so many fantastic memories on the hill. My wife and children were first time skiers. They had a fantastic time at Ski School and were able to learn with a very patient instructor. Everyone by the days end could ski down all the green runs on their first day. We had so many hours on the hill that weekend with smiling faces. It isn't often enough we get to see our family all enjoying the same activity and have so much excitement in a winter wonderland. My son couldn't get enough and talked his Boy Scout Troop into going up for the weekend in January of 2017. The hospitality of the resort and staff were phenomenal. The adults and scouts alike voted the Indianhead trip as their all-time best outing!!! We can't wait to go back this New Years and ski in 2017!

Indianhead resort has been our go to ski resort for the past 7/8 years. The mountain is groomed to perfection daily, the entire staff works as a team and everybody is friendly. Become an Indianhead friend on Facebook and get up to date deals on lodging and lift tickets. Watch for the last minute deals, they are incredible. All Restaurants have great food and a fun friendly staff.
Friendly staff and excellent terrain.

In Oct this year a friend bought me 4 tickets as a Christmas present. Due to weather issues this season (moving snow) my first chance to go was this past week. It was an unpleasant surprise when there was no record of the tickets or any customer service as to trying to remedy the situation. Even though I presented a receipt that was not enough and if it weren't for a friend that had ALSO purchased four tickets I would have had to purchase from IH again. NO PHONE CALLS. NO EMAIL. TERRIBLE CUST SERVICE. With three other ski areas a stones throw away I will re evaluate the situation for next season. I may be one customer but will be damned sure to tell everyone I know
