'The Whale' is a not-for-profit mountain at the heart of the Upper Valley Community. You will not get more fun skiing when there is a powder day, a variety of trails, and a short chair ride to the summit. pre 2020 there were often issues with the lift and snowmaking. However, with new management and investment, a new chair was installed, and there have been major upgrades with grooming and snowmaking (Kudos to Jon and the team!). If you are coming to the ski mountain looking to be pampered, skip the skiing and hit the spa (no judgment!) - this mountain caters to the community, keeping tickets and apres ski affordable for families (the bar area overlooking the trails is awesome!) with fun events each week in the lodge. The Whale was also featured in this cool documentary about not-for-profit mountains https://youtu.be/1VbO4ZXTM4o?si=qod1n8YwNBZMynGv
