A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
I go there all the time I like the place but the prices are horrible $16 hamburger 5.50 energy drink, 6 dollar fries like really thunder ridge whoever owns it I know time are tough but i'm going to stop buying food there if u dont jack down the covid prices, its either you change them or you wont be getting any more food money from me or other people its either money or no money. I would really give the place like 3 stars im giving it five only because the reviews are low and I like the place but honestly its 3 stars.

So...visited thunderidge and ...whoa boy! Conditions were good, the staff, aweful. If you have a problem as a result of the negligence of the organization, you will get a song and dance and promises galour to disuay you from making an argument for yourself. Beware of the little, more mature, chronologically, shall I say, lady that is behind the desk in the corner office, she has the answers to all your problems even though they are misleading and lies. Go there at your own risk. My complaint with them was minor, something that could have been resolved easily, but instead they opted to lie and mislead. Good luck if something serious happens to you there, I'm sure they'll deny it's even a ski resort at that point. STAY AWAY if you want a good patron experience, because thunderidge surely doesn't care much for the people that invest in their establishment. Again, I can't plead enough to beware of the mature lady with all the answers, they won't be factual solutions/answers. Sad because aside from this major issue with the guest services there, they would have potential. But as small as the place is, good PR is paramount to keep good business relations, something they obviously lack AND certainly don't care about. Attend the place at your own Risk!!!!! And certainly do not complain and say you weren't warned if you do go.

As a person who used to go their often growing up, i know realize after visiting plenty of other mountains that it is poorly run/managed. Overly strict, they treat their employees and customers with no respect, and they barely can keep the limited amount of trails they have open. And you're going to charge me holiday prices when only two trails are open! Horrible, and their manager, is a rude and condescending person.

Know what to expect and you won't be disappointed, as with many things in life. This isn't Stowe or Vail so get that out of your mind and consider what you're getting. It's literally an hour from NYC (they're not exaggerating) and the midweek lift tickets are the cheapest you can find (unless you'd rather drive the 2+ hours to save 5 bucks at Catamount). It's set up to be pretty beginner-friendly and I saw a lot of people, from kids to adults, getting lessons on a midweek, non-holiday. I think there were more people in lessons than on the lifts. It's also very kid friendly and the staff are very friendly and attentive.
So use the mountain for what it is. To get your fix when you absolutely need to shred some snow, but don't want to spend 5-7 hours getting there and back again. Perfect for day trips and for bringing family/beginners that just want to spend some time on the snow together. I suggest going on a midweek morning/early afternoon because you'll have the place to yourself. Around 3:30 all the local school kids will descend upon the mountain, and it gets pretty crowded.

This hill is really just for beginners, which is totally fine, but please remember that. The run-time/queue-time ratio is probably the worst I've seen in 30yrs of skiing in 100+ resorts. That said, the lines for learners on the bunnies are a lot less and the ski school cuts into the main lines quite efficiently.
Basically, if you want to get your kids taught somewhere without driving too far, then this certainly ticks a lot of boxes. If you don't need lessons, probably best to take the extra time on the road going North.

While thunder ridge doesn't look huge from the bottom, don't judge a book by its cover. The double chair takes you all the way up. With proximity to the metropolitan area, TR has 24 trails and a great enthusiastic staff. The base lodge is great and spacious with some good winter food in the cafeteria. Check out the brand new fawn meadow park!

Thunder Ridge is nothing but pure awlsome. Lifts on weekends may get backed up. I suggest going during the week for little crowd. Trails in the back part of the are the beast and long. The down side of the back is the A lift is the slowest lift. Also the ridge has very small snow coverage. But the 2014 year is going to have a few more adjustments for the better. I hope... The ridge is family frendly.
