Snow Reporter Comments: Today at Cardrona 20 August 2026 — Cardrona is open with clear skies, moderate west/northwest winds and great snow conditions following several days of cold weather. The grooming team worked extensively overnight, with Main Basin scheduled from 8:30am and Captains, T-Bar, Soho and Willows from 9am. Current conditions are 2°C with winds at 13 km/h and gusts to 21 km/h. Kindy Conveyor, Learner Conveyors, McDougall’s Chondola, Whitestar Express, Valley View, Captains Express, T-Bar, Soho Express and Willow’s Quad are open, while Wells Pipe Platter is closed. Open terrain includes Learners Slope, Main Basin, Captains, Soho, Little Willows, Big Willows, Ski Touring Access, Arcadia Chutes and Summit; Mt Cardrona is closed. The resort has not supplied a genuine in-piste run total or individual run-length breakdown in the report. Six of nine terrain parks are open, including Baby Bucks, Little Bucks, Antlers Alley, Stag Lane, Big Bucks and Gravity Cross. The resort has an active road hazard advisory; the road is chain-free but chains must always be carried. Carparks A and B are full, while The Yard, Valley View and The Pines have availability. The resort welcomes Wanaka Primary School Skiing today, and the terrain team has rebuilt Stag Lane with new features.
