I really have not much bad to say at all! Loved it!

"Dobbo" is one of my favourite ski resorts in NZ. Very rare to get lift queues (even in the weekend). Super cheap lift passes and it has possibly the best intermediate area (poma lift) area to ski in NZ - long wide slopes. The access road is long but it's maintained very well and there's always plenty of parking close to the ticket office. Great views from the top of the field. The 3 seater chairlift is fantastic for a smaller field. The T-Bar has a steep slope right at the dismount, it's a bit tricky the first time you ride it, after that you get used to it. Cheap accommodation at the closest town (Fairlie) although you can also stay in Tekapo (has hot pools) or as far away as Twizel or Timaru. Fantastic skiing o be had at Dobbo !!

I really loved this place, we found it on a driving adventure due to a Mt. Hutt closure and it ended up being way better for us as learners. The 3rd valley had great snow, not powder but soft under the crust kind of stuff, no way u can get hurt unlike Mt. Hutt hard pack. This is the best place to level up gradually and confidently. If u find yourself getting the turns nice on the beginners slopes, then your definitely ready to give the intermediate slopes around the T-bar a try. The amenities on the mountain are very basic but u can hire there. There's a small tuck shop that doesn't have much but their quick and cheap microwave-oven pies taste great and get u back on slope in minutes. The drive up the mountain isn't too challenging, I had a fractured wrist from Hutt so I couldn't drive manuel but my GF had no problem. I put the chains on though!
