The back bowl is awesome and there is some epic shoots that you can navigate your way through. Some easy going runs and all round a good snow playground. Get amongst it!!
Easy to get to from Queenstown (90 mins by bus)
Another chair lift would be great
Based in Queenstown to be accessible to the several commercial resorts made for a good comparison of the regions ski area. Even though it is quiet a drive there and back in one day i chose to go there twice in the week because of it's much better and challenging terrain and if you are prepared to do a little hiking you can see some of the most spectacular alpine views the worlds got to offer and have i have been privileged enough to see quiet a few around the world T.C. is a must if your a ski junky.
TC is the best ski mountain in NZ if you are a good skier. Good terrain and lifts. Reliable snow in the upper basin. Best in August. Has some of the best views from a ski mountain in the world that I have seen
This is the best ski/ride mountain in NZ. Treble Cone has the most interesting and exciting terrain. Ambitious intermediates benefit from instruction as the coaches are of a higher standard than most. Rarely crowded, a bit pricey, beautiful township of Wanaka has an international scene with a healthy vibe. If you are passionate about your winter sport- you must experience this place.
Very good off piste terrain and a great cafe. Would reccomend to intermidiate and advanced skiers.
Treble Cone mountain is a half hour drive from the town of Wanaka on New Zealand's South Island. This is known as 'the skier's mountain' for it's back saddle and 18 backcountry chutes for the expert skier. The access road can be a bit scarey but there is talk of a gondola from the mountain base to the day lodge to open in the next two years. The view from Treble Cone is breathtaking with Lake Wanaka and the Aspiring Ranges. It's not a beginners mountain, more for intermediates to advanced and beyond. The front face can get icey and crowded but the back saddle is kiwi powder heaven with open face, gullies, moguls and natural jumps. Like all reorts in NZ it's above the tree line. There's over five hundred and fifty hectares of terrain and backcountry day trips on offer as well as intensive week long ski improvement camps. Vertical is over six hundred metres. On mountain catering is some of the best in New Zealand, if a little crowded at lunch time with only the one main dining area with sun deck. A good challenging mountain. Wanaka provides a good mix of cheap to expensive dining options with some cool bars and pubs. Stay in anything from hostel style accommodation to six star butler serviced mountain chalets.
