Snow Reporter Comments: Today at Treble Cone 21 August 2026 — A clear, calm night gave the grooming and snowmaking teams the perfect setting to put the finishing touches on the mountain, and it's made for some excellent skiing and riding right across Treble Cone this morning. Mainly fine conditions are forecast through the day, with cloud building later in the afternoon — get out early to make the most of the bluebird skies. Snowmaking topped up key areas overnight, so conditions are looking superb from top to bottom. Home Basin Express opens at 8:30am and Saddle Quad follows at 9am, along with the Beginner Platter — all three lifts are running today. Triple Treat, Main Street, Skite, Rafill's Run, High Street, Saddle Track, Pete's Treat, Bullet and Saddleback have all been freshly groomed for the day. Home Basin, Saddle Basin, Matukituki Basin, Summit Slopes and Motatapu Chutes are all open terrain, along with backcountry and skinning access and Powder Bowl — only Sundance is closed today. The NZ Junior Freeride Event wraps up today with the U11s, and their course won't be crossing High Street, so no closures are in place for it. Remember to control your speed and give others room out there — patrol will be enforcing the snow code today. The road is chain-free right now, but all vehicles must still carry chains, or better yet carpool or catch the free road shuttle — there's an active road hazard advisory in place on the access roads. All three car parks have space today.
