A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
I came to Cascade for my first time at the end of the 2021 season, they had a good year and let anyone with a season pass from any other local resort go for free the last week or two they were open. Between that and kids skiing free, it really gives you a taste of what kind of place this is and how it's ran. It's got a great group of people working there, very friendly and you can tell the resort is a nice mom and pop place owned by people who like the sport.
It's Wisconsin, you aren't going to get a massive hill. But the lifts are fast, even if there's a little line it moves pretty quick compared to some of the other resorts in SE Wisconsin. And you have a lot of choices on which runs to go down (compared to other SEWi resorts) so they don't get too congested.
There are a few runs that are pretty long for Wisconsin, and you have the choice to leave the blue/green runs that are long and take several different black diamond runs. I find you have a lot of choice of where you're going to go at Cascade. Most Wisconsin resorts are just riding one lift up the mountain then choosing between two or three runs to go down. Cascade gives you a lot of options when you go down the hill, and it makes it a lot of fun.
They have really relaxed on trees, they now have about 5 acres of glades and trees you can run. This year we have been really hurting on natural snowfall, but I went through the glades two days ago, they were in pretty good shape all things considered.
Out of all the places I've been in Wisconsin, Cascade is the most like being out West on an actual mountain. I live next to another good resort in WI, about 25 minutes from me, and I'll still gladly make the hour and a half trek out to Cascade because it's a lot of fun there. I also greatly appreciate the different options for season passes, being able to have a pass that works once a week Monday through Thursday is awesome and it's greatly appreciated they do it. In fact I would say Cascade does a lot of things like this to try and get people out and having fun. I respect that and the people who run the place a lot for doing what they do, kids skiing free with a paid adult, alternative season passes, that bonus last year of letting people with season passes from other resorts ski for free (I really don't expect it to happen every year but it was still awesome of them to do).
Yeah, it's Wisconsin, it's not a 5000 foot mountain. But for a Wisconsin resort Cascade is easily one of the best around here. They take good care of the snow, groom everything well, and are pretty aggressive with opening up runs at the start of the season. Cascade is some of the most fun you can have snowboarding and skiing in Wisconsin. It's very family friendly and it's a really great place to spend a day.

I really like Cascade. It is cheap to go with a big group and the hill is big enough that you can explore, but not so big you get lost. The terrain parks are great and they change the terrain park setups throughout the year. It really lacks in expert terrain, however. They have many single black diamonds that would be blues at a place like granite peak. Many fun side-hits and there are many ways to get to the top of the hill with even more ways down. Cascade Mountain is a great beginner/intermediate hill with good terrain parks.

Go early on a weekend and all is great. Weekdays are also great. Due to its proximity to Chicago and MKE it gets busy week end afternoons.
The snowmaking is top notch and lesson experience has been great. I see people complaining they just showed up after driving 4 hours and didn’t get a lesson. Well have you not heard about reservations? Calling ahead before you drive? Not the fault of the hill.
Cascade is a great place to gain the skills before heading out west.

I snowboard 35-45 times a year throughout the Midwest. Cascade has many good things but crowds make much of the “good” inaccessible on weekends. Weekdays are usually great outside of the holidays but holidays and weekends are generally awful. The crowds are huge and lines are long and frustrating. Some of it is due to their very liberal “kids ski free” policy and the fact that they really don’t check lift tickets. Even if it appears like they check, they don’t. It is frustrating.
Go during the week and you will have a wonderful time. Weekends are nothing short of pure frustration.

Side hits, trees, anything that isn’t groomed is off limits and ski patrol will threaten to kick you out. They put fencing and signs up everywhere they can to keep people from going off trail, more this year than last. They groomed over areas that seasons past were some of the funnest side hits they had. Too many people come here who do t know how to board or ski, the weekends are packed with long lines and they rarely ever have all lifts open. Kids 10 and under ski free so that’s good and bad depending on your situation.

I was at Cascade on 2/1/20 and it was the worst experience since going there for the last 10 years. First the line to get rental was out the door and down the sidewalk. Once we got our boots, we had to wait in line again which took even longer. We wasted over an hour to get our equipment. The place was so crowded and hot and I am sure there were several fire hazard violations from all the people. I then took my 11 year old daughter to the majic carpet to help her learn to ski. After a few falls she was getting the hang of it. She came down the small slow slope and barely bumped into a worker that stopped her with her hands and the lady said "You really need to learn how to stop." What do you think were doing on the smallest beginner hill? I mean seriously my daughter was crying by this time and we were done for the day. It was the worst day ever for skiing, very disappointed this year and such a waste of time.

I had previously left an unpleasant review because of snow boarding lessons not being offered on the day we had planned. However, we tried again the next day and I'm glad we did. The lesson was great as well as the instructor!

We drove almost four hours and had our whole day planned around a snow boarding lesson for my son, he was so excited to give it a try as we've never done something like skiing/snow boarding. Upon going to sign up, we were told there were no snow boarding lessons today (Thursday afternoon), according to the website lessons are given at several times all day. Sure wish we would've known before wasting a trip.
