A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
This place is uncrowded gem. It's all about keeping the sport real ! If you can't have fun on this mountain it's your own fault and maybe you should stick with the corporate resorts.

Refreshing! I took my family to Ski Cooper yesterday for the first time and ‘Refreshing’ comes to mind for a few reasons - it’s refreshing that there is still affordable skiing (almost every other CO mountain wants $225+ for a day pass) for 1 person, it was refreshing to arrive around 11am and not only get a parking spot that was close to the entrance (other CO mountains require a shuttle or a gondola to get close to the entrance), but it was also free to park (other CO mountains charge for parking on top of their already ridiculous price for a lift ticket)! It was refreshing that a ski instructor who had a class full of students paused to help my son with his skis bc he saw him struggling. Not only did the ski instructor pause to help, the lift operators offered some advice and help as well. After 2 employees mentioned my son’s skis were too big for him, we decided to check out rentals. Pricing for rentals is the lowest I have ever seen! It was so refreshing to be able to rent my son a pair of skis that were more suitable for his age/size and not pay an astronomical rate for only a few hours. Lastly, Olivia, who helped my son, was truly amazing! She sized my son in better ski boots and skis and answered all of my questions. She was thorough in all of her explanations and really helped us understand how ski boots should fit and sizing of skis. I cannot thank her enough for her help! Although this mountain may be smaller than others, the employees truly seem to care about their visitors and my family plans to ski here moving forward. Thank you Ski Cooper for offering such a wonderful and refreshing environment and experience for me and my family!

Drove up with my son last week from Denver. It took over 20 minutes to get to the top on a lift that creeped along and stopped completely 3 times. It was windy and cold so a terrible experience.Too many don’t know how to ride the lift and fall loading or unloading. Management doesn’t seem to care. Next time we are going to Loveland.

If you're a casual skier who just wants to hit a few runs without breaking the bank or teach someone to ski, this is going to be paradise.
If you're looking for an intense challenge, or somewhere you can bathe in vanity, there are other hills just up the road.

I'm writing this review to share a really bonkers experience I had with the ski school. I booked lessons for my two kids ages six and seven. The next day I got a call back from the ski school explaining their policies to me. These included:
1) no chance that an instructor could show either kid how to get on a chairlift during a lesson.
2) there's a resort policy that says no kid under 15 can get on a chair lift by themselves.
3) due to covid the instructor cannot get on a chairlift with the pupil. (At the time I'm writing this the CDC says masks are only required indoors by the way)
It really sounded like they just didn't want to bother with giving my kids a lesson and they invented a bunch of excuses to convince me to cancel it. So that's just what I did. I hope none of this happens to anybody else.
Messed up with man made moguls on runs that used to be good, chairlift is very slow or not working, not that many runs and some are blocked off for racing. Used to be a great area.

Disclaimer: Have not tried the back basin with expert runs, so no review on that side.
If you have kids, are a beginner or intermediate, or want a fun filled day without hassles, this is a great place. Highly recommend if you are in a hotel or condo within an hour or so drive.

History and beautiful‼️Great place for anybody looking for a great time without the snobbery.

If you are looking for a passive mountain for kids to learn to ski, Cooper is a solid option. However you can go from the top of the mountain to the bottom without turning your skis. Experts will be incredibly bored.
