Mt. Hutt’s terrain is expansive and varied, with 35 km of skiable trails and a vertical drop of 683 meters. The mountain is served by 5 lifts, including high-speed six-seaters and quads, ensuring quick access to all zones. The layout includes wide-open bowls, steep chutes, and groomed cruisers, making it a playground for skiers and riders of all abilities.

Beginners will find comfort in the dedicated learning area near the base, featuring a 140-meter enclosed Magic Carpet and gentle slopes. The area is ideal for first-timers and children, with easy access to lessons and rental services. The Kids 4 Free program and Skiwiland Early Learning Center make Mt. Hutt especially welcoming for young families.

Intermediate skiers can explore trails like Broadway and Highway 72, which offer long, rolling descents with consistent grooming. These runs are perfect for building confidence and enjoying scenic views across the plains. The Exhibition Quad provides access to a variety of blue-rated terrain with smooth transitions and wide turns.

Advanced skiers will appreciate the steeper pitches on Towers and the upper sections of International. These runs feature natural features, variable snow conditions, and a mix of groomed and off-piste terrain. The Summit Six lift opens up high-alpine zones with dramatic ridgelines and panoramic views.

Expert skiers can drop into the South Face and Rakaia Saddle Chutes, where steep descents and powder stashes await. These areas are ungroomed and demand technical skill, offering some of the most challenging in-bounds terrain in New Zealand. Avalanche gear isn’t required, but caution is advised on steeper faces.

Freestyle riders are well catered for with four terrain parks, including the beginner-friendly Sky High Park, an intermediate progression park, and the advanced-level TRIC park. Features include jumps, rails, tabletops, and a FIS-certified halfpipe. The parks are maintained daily and designed for progression, creativity, and flow.
