A ski resort's overall star rating displayed here is not calculated based on a simple average but takes several factors, including the age of a review, into account.
Been here twice, both times have had subpar snow conditions. This place really needs a good amount of snow just to make it worth it. I’d rather drive further for Snowshoe, WV.

If you live close by there is no better Winter release than skiing at Wintergreen, Sure it's not perfect, But if you live within an hour or 2 this is awesome. It isn't out west for sure but you can't grab the kids after school at 3 pm and be skiing in Vail by 5. It can be icy and slushy at times but I grew up skiing in Virginia and that's what it is. It's an amazing place year-round to beat the heat and stay active. We are lucky to have Wintergreen and all its flaws.

The season pass that was purchased for the 2021-2022 Wintergreens ski season was well worth the value. The resort has extensive snow making capabilities. We were able to ski through the last day of the season. The mountain site received a decent number of natural snow days. The views are fantastic.

I used to work at Wintergreen during the 15/16 season. It almost never gets snow. Parking is bad, the lifts are slow for high speed 6's, the runs change difficulty quickly depending on slope grade and weather.
Dining is ok though there aren't many options. The resort needs an update.
The only good thing is Tyro, as far as blue runs go it rivals a short Colorado Blue and honestly is worth visiting just for that.

We had reservations for night skiing on 2/18/2021. Ice storm came through and shut down many roads and other businesses. I believe the only ones who were able to ski were staying at the resort. We're about one hour away and couldn't get there. Tried calling most of the day with not a single answer by an anyone. Sent email and got a response a day later stating no refund. Do not book in advance here. Their policy is terrible. Massanutten has much better customer service. Paid $350 and didn't get to do a thing. Bad business if you want people to return.

Ive been going to winter green for about 5 years now and have never had a problem with it. sometimes ice and lack of snow can be a problem but most of the time almost all runs are open and they fully use the terain to give as many runs as they can. for sure are bigger or larger places but if you live in VA its the best there is. if you live close its defenitly worth your time and prices are fairly cheap compared to other places

Resort is shortening hours of operations and has failed to blow snow for the past 2 nights with perfect conditions to do so. Only 50% terrain is open and ZERO runs on Highlands/black side of mountain. MLK weekend coming and resort seems to be lowering guest expectations. Their blog notes nothing about snow making (its supposed to be Wintergreens claim to fame) and warns today (Wed) rentals and lift tickets and rentals scarce. Whats up?!

The lines were horribly slow! They have a separate private lift line for members that they favor. We watched the private line move continuously where there was almost never a wait, while we had to wait 30 minutes for the same lift. You literally would see the same people ski down, get on the lift, ski down again, get on the lift and you would have only moved 4 spots in line!!! Horrible waste of money. I have skied at over 30 resorts and have never had to wait as long as I did at Wintergreen. We will never be going back.

Wintergreen is a fun place to ski/board and visit. The slopes are really good for Virginia and the snowmaking is very good as well. There's nothing too difficult on this mountain but there are a couple narrower expert trails that you need to be careful on because they get crowded. Great for families.
Wintergreen has some real nice trails for the experienced skiers and boarders. For a beginner, you can only be in the tiny training area if you are in a lesson. They have the terrain park on top of the beginner hill, so the guys that use the park, zoom down to grab the lift at the bottom making it rather dangerous for collisions. If you can ski intermediate hills, you will be fine skiing there.
They don't allow motorcycles on the resort either. Hard to believe they don't want the business from the hundreds of bike that travel the Blue Ridge Parkway each day during the warmer season.
