<p>Located along the shores of Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada, spanning the Niagara Escarpment, Blue Mountain ski resort has evolved into a year-round destination and resort. Blue Mountain, which is approximately 100 miles north of Toronto, is routinely ranked as one of the top family-friendly resorts and ski areas in Canada.</p>
<p>A variety of lodging and hotel options are available near the resort. Looking to get as close to the lifts as possible? Lodging options like Chateau Ridge offer ski-in, ski-out access and complimentary shuttle rides to the Blue Mountain Village.</p>
<h2>Where Blue Mountain Resort Located?</h2>
<p>The resort is two hours from Toronto, which is serviced by the Toronto Pearson Airport. It is about three hours from the Niagara/U.S. border area. There is daily shuttle service from Toronto to the resort. There is also airline service from Toronto Buttonville Municipal Airport to Collingwood Airport. Public transportation is available between Blue Mountain and Collingwood.</p>

<h3>Terrain</h3>
<p>Blue Mountain features abundant terrain spread across 364 acres of skier and rider accessible terrain. The resort is one of the most frequented resorts in Canada and has a reputation of catering to families. The terrain consists of long wide groomed trails, combined with a dedicated learner&rsquo;s area. The resort is easy to navigate and is serviced by multiple express lifts.</p>
<p>With an elevation of 1,480 feet (base 750 feet), Blue Mountain&rsquo;s 12 lifts and 42 trails, including 30 night-lit trails, provide tons of fun for skiers and boarders with its 720 feet of vertical. The longest trail is Gord&rsquo;s Groove, which is one mile long. There are three terrain parks plus visitors get access to the Arena Snowparks, which have hosted the Olympic Winter Games and World Championships. Run breakouts are 11 beginner, 16 intermediate, 7 advanced and 8 expert. The resort receives 120 inches on snow on average, which is supported by snowmaking on 94% of the terrain.</p>
<p>This year-round resort offers multiple summer activities as well, including lift-served mountain biking, golfing, kayaking, wine tasting, hiking, climbable tree houses, coasters and helicopter tours.</p>

<p>Blue Mountain Resort is the brainchild of Czechoslovakian-born Jozo Weider who started operating Blue Mountain is 1941. The first lifts consisted of two sleds drawn by cable and powered by a truck engine. The original trails of Schuss and Kandahar can still be skied on the North side of the mountain.</p>
<p>The Snow School offers lessons to children and adults of all ages. During the summer, there are tennis lessons as well as mountain bike lessons and clinics. There are many choices for lodging in the area, including chalets, cottages and cabins. A complimentary shuttle is available around the resort, and equipment rentals are available for a variety of different sports, including skiing and biking. Childcare is available on the mountain.</p>
