The resort is two hours from Toronto, which is serviced by the Toronto Pearson Airport. It is about three hours from the Niagara/U.S. border area. There is daily shuttle service from Toronto to the resort. There is also airline service from Toronto Buttonville Municipal Airport to Collingwood Airport. Public transportation is available between Blue Mountain and Collingwood.
Blue Mountain Resort is the brainchild of Czechoslovakian-born Jozo Weider who started operating Blue Mountain is 1941. The first lifts consisted of two sleds drawn by cable and powered by a truck engine. The original trails of Schuss and Kandahar can still be skied on the North side of the mountain.
The Snow School offers lessons to children and adults of all ages. During the summer, there are tennis lessons as well as mountain bike lessons and clinics. There are many choices for lodging in the area, including chalets, cottages and cabins. A complimentary shuttle is available around the resort, and equipment rentals are available for a variety of different sports, including skiing and biking. Childcare is available on the mountain.
