Manganui Ski Area Trail Map
Manganui’s terrain is carved into the volcanic slopes of Mt. Taranaki, offering 10 km of skiable trails with a vertical drop of 420 meters. The resort is served by 5 surface lifts, including three rope tows, a T-bar, and a learner tow. The layout is compact but varied, with natural halfpipes, bowls, and ridgelines that create dynamic skiing conditions across all ability levels.
Beginners will find a welcoming environment near the Learners Tow Run, where gentle slopes and consistent snow coverage provide a safe space to build skills. The terrain here is mellow and visible from the public shelter, making it ideal for families and first-timers. While lessons aren’t offered on-site, the terrain is intuitive and forgiving.
Intermediate skiers can explore the central bowl and trails like Walter’s Slalom and T-Bar North Side. These runs offer rolling terrain with scenic views and natural transitions, perfect for cruising and refining technique. The T-bar provides quick access to blue-rated trails with smooth descents and wide turns.
Advanced skiers will appreciate the steeper pitches accessed by the Top Tow, where natural features like rock bands, gullies, and wind lips challenge agility and control. Trails like The Big Schuss and Mud and Flowers deliver varied snow conditions and technical lines that reward confident riders.
Expert skiers can hike to the upper ridgelines for access to steep chutes and off-piste zones. These areas are not patrolled and require avalanche awareness, but they offer dramatic descents and solitude. The terrain is raw and rewarding, especially after fresh snowfall.
Freestyle riders can head to the terrain park near the T-bar, which includes rails, boxes, and small-to-medium kickers. Two natural halfpipes add to the fun, offering organic transitions and playful lines. The park is compact but well-maintained, making it suitable for riders of all levels.
