Overview

Breckenridge, located in the heart of Colorado's Rocky Mountains, is one of the most beloved ski resorts in the United States. Nestled at an elevation of about 9,600 feet, this historic town offers a unique combination of world-class skiing and charming mountain-town atmosphere. Breckenridge boasts 2,908 acres of skiable terrain, serviced by 35 lifts and 192 trails, making it a prime destination for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. Its high alpine terrain, including the famous Peak 8, provides some of the highest lift-served runs in North America.

With five distinct peaks to explore, Breckenridge caters to every type of skier or rider. Beginners will love the wide, gentle slopes of Peak 9, while experts can test their skills on the double black diamond runs and bowls at Peak 10 and Peak 6. The resort’s long season, often running from November to May, ensures ample opportunity to enjoy deep powder, perfectly groomed runs, and endless adventure. Visitors are also drawn to Breckenridge's lively après-ski scene, historic Main Street, and the stunning views of the surrounding mountains, creating an all-around unforgettable experience.

Inside Scoop

For powder days, head straight to Peak 6 or the high-alpine bowls off the Imperial Express SuperChair on Peak 8, where you’ll find untouched snow and challenging terrain that will keep advanced skiers thrilled. Peak 10 also offers excellent powder stashes in the trees for those looking for a bit more solitude. Early risers should also check out Breckenridge’s First Tracks program, which allows access to the mountain before the lifts open to the public for a chance at fresh powder runs.

After a day on the mountain, Breckenridge’s après-ski scene is the perfect place to unwind. One of the most popular spots is the T-Bar at the base of Peak 8, where skiers and riders gather for drinks, snacks, and live music. For a more laid-back atmosphere, head into town to enjoy the local craft beers at Breckenridge Brewery or grab a seat at Kenosha Steakhouse for a hearty meal and unbeatable views of the surrounding peaks.

If you’re looking for a hidden gem, venture to the Gold Run Nordic Center for a peaceful cross-country skiing or snowshoeing experience through Breckenridge’s beautiful backcountry trails. This quieter spot offers a serene break from the busy slopes and a chance to explore the natural beauty of the area.
